Year 11 and 12 Economics Excursion

The Year 11 and 12 Economics students from Eastmeadows went on a two hour guided tour across Melbourne, exploring places in the City Centre that highlight historic and contemporary economic stories. These stores illustrated how Melbourne’s residents and the physical City have responded to ever-changing local and global economic events over time.

The girls were first allocated identities of people who have influenced change in Melbourne and as the tour progressed, they heard the stories of these individuals who influenced economic growth and changes after arriving to Australia with nothing but ambition.

Students’ explored the key assets in economic development in Melbourne including the lanes system, arts, food, construction, infrastructure and financial services. The tour has intensified the students’ excitement about studies of economics, by experiencing first hand its affects in daily life.
